• Manage a global alternative asset portfolio.
• Achieve target performance for alternative assets.
• Develop long term expectations of return for real estate, private equity and alternative assets using sell side research, interviews and internal macro-economic data sources.
• Identify promising regions of the world to invest in and the best managers in those regions to invest with.
• Perform due diligence on potential managers by evaluating sources of alpha; may involve visits to the manager’s office to understand system, processes and strategy. Due diligence will also include an assessment of the manager’s operations.
• Structure Shariah-compliant investments for private equity, real estate and alternative assets.
• Communicate to senior management and propose investment recommendations.
• Contribute to development of asset allocation on the firm-wide level.
• Full ownership of articulating investment processes and performance
• Support head of asset management in the improvement of existing business processes.
• Understand the source of alpha at active asset management firms we engage.
• Stay up-to-date on developments in asset management research communicated through leading sources of publication, such as Financial Analysts Journal (FAJ), SSRN, etc.
• Interface effectively with back office on senior management requests.
