Under the line management of the Head of Mission the Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of the project ‘’Toward a practical change of the Human Rights for Youth and Women with Disabilities in Egypt’’
This is an extremely exciting position for an experienced project manager with proven operational and budgetary management skills, who is committed to the improvement of the situation of marginalised persons, within a dynamic non-profit organisation.
THE PROJECT:
The project is a 24-month project that will be implemented from early 2015 (date still to be finalized).
The specific objective of the action is that Empowered Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) of Greater Cairo, especially young people and women, effectively promote the rights of PwDs and their inclusion in policy dialogue and decision making within currently engaged political reforms.
STAKES OF THE POSITION:
Under the line management of the Head of mission, the Project Manager will be responsible for:
• Coordinating, facilitating and promoting the multistakeholders approach with national, governorate and local stakeholders involved in the project, promoting participatory approach and work of the local community.
• Ensuring capacity building of the partner - an experimented developmental NGO specialized in organizational development with no experiencein Disability - and capacity building of the stakeholders (DPOs, PAs, CSOs, Service Providers)
• Ensuring and supporting the implementation and monitoring of the project activities
• Ensuring capacity building and empowerement of DPOs, with strong focus on organization development and gender mainstreaming in internal governance and programming
The specific responsibilities of the Project Manager include:
1) Project management:
• Plan and implement project activities; co-ordinate between the project’s various stakeholders in line with the strategic direction of the overall project and organize regular project review;
• Develop & implement the project monitoring system and ensure the continuous monitoring of activities
• Manage the project’s financial, logistical and material resources in the respect of administrative and financial procedures
• Recruitment and management of a project team
• Insure the compilation of lessons learning and good practice analysis as well as the development of success stories and communication materials
• Secure the monitoring mechanism of the project
2) Project coordination:
• Develop, implement and monitor formal partnership agreement with project partner
• Lead strategic and operational meetings of HI team with project stakeholders
• Coordinate the work of HI field officer and partner staff
3) Internal and external reporting:
• Develop and implement data collection tools and mechanisms for HI and partners on activity implementation
• Submit periodic internal project activity updates (activity and budget follow up)
• Prepare formal activity reports for international funding agencies according to defined schedules and requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The position is based in Cairo with possible travels to the regional office in Amman and other locations in Egypt. It requires ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision, flexibility, ability to take initiatives, find solutions and facilitate decision-making within the frame of the project’s governance, and ability to work in a team / Group leadership
STARTING DATE: 5TH OF APRIL 2015.
Initial contract will be for a period of one year and the position is based in Cairo
PROFILE SOUGHT:
An experienced, bilingual (English/Arabic) project manager with proven experience in managing international cooperation projects.
