• Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive direct investment framework and strategy (financial and operational plans).
• Review and update the documentation of all direct investments and advise changes where appropriate to conform to statutory and regulatory changes.
• Identify, source and evaluate the viability of potential investment opportunities through conducting analysis, financial modeling, feasibility studies, risk assessments, valuation and due diligence.
• Manage the engagement teams and overall investment process including research analysis, valuation, presentations, due diligence, term sheet negotiations, execution and closing, and post-closing added value activities through to exit.
• Managing and monitoring investments (made) to ensure compliance with agreed terms and conditions, information from portfolio companies are received in a timely fashion, operational risks are identified early and remedial actions taken promptly.
• Closely monitor portfolio companies and lead support in improving financial and operational performance.
• Proactively keep abreast with economic, fiscal, social and political developments in the global, regional and KSA markets and assess their impact on the investment climate, so as to seize opportunities as they arise or suggest changes accordingly to adapt strategic investment plans to new situations.
• Develop and propose strategies to grow the direct investment activities.
• Support the Head of Direct Investments on new deal development, negotiations, and portfolio company management activities.
• Direct extensive market intelligence gathering activities by the Direct Investments team with a view to creating prospective investment options.
• Run all pre and post investments activities (due diligence, legal, consulting, etc.) keeping in mind MASIC’s business objectives.
• Develop appropriate risk identification and risk mitigation measures for every project in close coordination with other departments.
• Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure direct investment activities are in compliance with all regulatory/ financial reporting/ commercial requirements and in line with the internal corporate policies and procedures.
• Manage and guide the Direct Investments team members, coaching and training them on the job where required to grow the team and build their skills-set.
• Establish, develop and maintain a strong and extensive network of business contacts within the public and private sector institutions, whose engagement is critical to the efficient and early identification of the best investment opportunities, as and when they arise.
• Develop and maintain strong relationship with external partners, key internal departments and intermediaries to positively influence decisions.
• Ensure that all investment is in line with company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for day to day direct investment tasks, working close with legal and operations teams and third party service providers.
• Analyze the investment ideas received from investment providers.
• Ensure the implementation and update of investment processes that enable the investment to discharge its fiduciary responsibilities effectively.
• Assist in maintaining the company control standards including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any relevant points raised by external regulators.
• Prepare investment proposals and deal completion schedules for presentation
• Assist the Head of Direct Investments in setting the direct investment priorities.
• Mentor, guide and train more junior investment staff.
