Job Description Purpose of the role: To support the creation and implementation of all MENA related social media plans and management of all social media platforms for NPG publications and projects in the MENA region. Key tasks: General • Develop, monitor and manage the delivery of social media plan for key projects • Develop, monitor and manage the social media platforms for key projects • Ensure maximum exposure and reach for all the NPG social media platforms in the MENA region • Engage with key regional players online, related to science, medicine or academia. Corporate Communications • Together with line managers, develop and implement social media strategy for MENA region • Develop social media plans as needed, to include content calendars, campaigns, online ads and relevant tactics • Developing content across owned social accounts. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos and videos… • Maintain and proactively develop list of major scientific and academic social media platforms in the region which helps in benchmarking, messaging and audience identification • Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information • Identify opportunities for top content to be promoted on social media with relevant colleagues. • Identify and pursue opportunities for content syndication with other major accounts, in collaboration with line managers • Liaise with editorial, marketing and corporate communications to ensure plans are synergised • Identify measurement tools to provide progress reports and performance stats, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives. Key relationships: • Corporate Communications Manager - MENA • Editors, MENA • Institutional and product marketing teams • Studio and graphic designers • Key social accounts in the filed in the region • Macmillan colleagues • Head of Communications, MSS Qualifications: • Undergraduate degree (ideally in science, science communication, business or marketing) Skills/knowledge: • Demonstrable experience in managing similar social media projects • Understanding of, or demonstrable interest in science communication • Understanding of the social media, academic and cultural landscape in the MENA, particularly in Saudi Arabia • Highly effective written and verbal communication (in Arabic and English) • Good copywriting • Experience in social media metrics and reporting, and in tracking tools such as and Facebook insights • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple social media platforms • Project management skills • General office skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel • Research and reporting skills, including internet research • Numerical aptitude • Attention to detail Experience: At least 3 years of social media management experience within the STM, publishing or academic industry in MENA. Experience of social media trends, tools and practices Experience working with external partners
