Progrss.com is hiring an experienced journalist and storyteller with a passion for urban issues and city-life, able to turn around intelligent features and special reports regularly.
Dedicated to decoding and mainstreaming essential knowledge about urbanization, city development and the processes and innovations necessary to create a liveable future for the global population (70% of which will be residing in cities by 2050), progrss.com is a state-of-the-art digital platform that publishes original content daily with a focus on utilizing facts and figures to instigate action and innovation.
As part of the editorial team, the ideal candidate will have a proven ability to research and write feature-length reports for a digital audience with at least three years of English language publication experience, and the know-how and intuition needed to quickly identify and report on relevant trending topics, breaking news and developments as soon as they surface. You will also be adept and employing and interpreting data to forecast and influence future urban development and to validate your research and strengthen your story.
Professional experience with content management systems and social media marketing for publications are musts.
Main responsibilities:
• Pitch, research and write 1-2 feature length reports weekly based on relevant urban developments, innovations and trends, paired with insights and expert interviews when necessary;
• Media monitoring to identify trends and current topics related to urbanization and cities to create daily news stories;
• Extract insights from data and work closely with graphic designers to implement impactful, shareable visualizations to bolster your reports;
• Work closely with photographers and videographers to create multimedia content to optimize reports with engaging visuals;
• Utilize progrss.com’s official Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn to share content, maximise reach and drive traffic to the site;
• Be heavily involved in weekly and monthly editorial meetings to determine and schedule upcoming content and identify trending topics.
