Description
The purpose of the Regional Microbiology Manager is primarily to :
- Provide deep functional expertise/consultancy in Microbiology to support all Business Divisions- Provide strategic and operational direction and leadership for the Regional BU in microbiology to ensure safety of products produced and sold in the region- Lead the Regional Laboratory team to establish Governance, Competency and Capability of all microbiology laboratory services in order to support the Quality and Food Safety Laboratory Network
Key Responsibilities
1. Provides deep technical expertise in all aspects of laboratory and operational microbiology to the Segment and as requested to all business divisions to:
- Support significant Global Cross-Segment, Global Segment and Regional crises.- Support the development and implementation of Quality &Food Safety Corporate and Segment Standards- Support Material Quality Management (MQM) deployment and Material Risk Assessment (MRA) creation- Support local New Product Development activities
- Provides scientifically-based recommendations to Business Units and Regional Management Team regarding product dispositions and need for recall/retrieval of non-conforming products.- Acts as a troubleshooting resource to investigate and correct microbiological non-conformities at sites and contract vendors.- Directs internal and external microbiology testing to assure accuracy of data, and timely confidential communication of results (including proficiency testing program) for the Region.- Manages 2 to 5 technicians involved in microbiological testing of product and processing environments and risk assessment of new activities- Deploys the Global Microbiology Strategy within the Region assuring the effective implementation of Standards, processes and new microbiology technologies/methods in the Region.- Is a member of the Global Microbiology Community of Practice and leads the Regional Microbiology Community of Practice.- Leads key projects that continuously improve Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) microbiology management and performance (processes, standards and tools) within the Region.- Leads the Regional Microbiology Laboratory audit program encompassing internal and external microbiology laboratories.- Provides technical guidance and consultancy to HACCP teams within the Region to assure that manufacturing processes and environments are microbiologically safe for producing both new and existing products.- Provides guidance in the design of microbiological surveillance and sanitation programs for manufacturing sites in the region.- Designs and manages challenge studies to understand the impact of new product- Delivers company Microbiological Food Safety training to Regional associates across Supply, Commercial (SQA) and R&D.- Provides microbiological guidance in the resolution of customer complaints.- Identifies and maintains an external network of microbiological experts to ensure an up to date.
The job holder with work closely across the META region with Q&FS team, plant managers and commercial. The jobholder will also interact on a global level with the centre of expertise for microbiology
Profile
For the role of Regional Microbiology Manager my client is looking for candidates with deep functional expertise of all aspects of food microbiology with either:
- At least 12 years experience of working in Food laboratories, preferably with operational management, quality management or customer facing technical service
