As a, “full service, ” company, we must not only be flexible enough to do a sound show one week, and a sound installation the next, but we must also have the technical expertise to fulfill both.
The head sound and low voltage technician helps to set this example to the other assistants on the team.
The main responsibilities of the live sound technician part of the job are delivering, installing and operating the sound and audio equipment for live concerts, speeches, plays, sporting games, weddings, parties, and other events.
Your duties include managing the speakers, cables, mixing machines and other types of equipment used to capture and broadcast sound during a live event. This requires setting up sound equipment before the event, tearing down equipment after the event, and transporting the equipment back to the company; returning it into inventory.
As the head installer for the commercial sound department, the main responsibilities are to work closely with the Division Manager to ensure the system is installed per his or her design as well as: pull, install, terminate, cross-connect, repair and replace cable/wires associated with the sound system/low voltage infrastructure, and install the various hardware required for system implementation. This includes but is not limited to: speakers, amplifiers, mixers, DSPs, lighting, trussing, safety rigging, structured ladders, racks, J-hooks, D-rings, routers, switches, and any other hardware or software needed in modern sound, lighting, and data networks.
