Senior Laboratory Technician in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Qatar University
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Qatar University has an opening for a Senior Laboratory Technician and invites suitably qualified candidates to apply. Senior Lab Technician is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and overall management of analytical instrument laboratories and execution of analytical services to undergraduate/graduate students and faculty members. The duties include: Procurement of analytical equipment, Calibration and operation of analytical equipment, Supervision of safety and hygiene, Managing and maintaining the chemicals stock inventory, Ordering chemicals and gasses, Managing the maintenance log book of instruments, Executing analytical services for students and faculty members, Developing SOP’s for specific student projects, Interacting with Business Operations for maintenance of laboratories, Ensuring safety in labs all the time, Writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures.
The successful applicant will have a BS degree in chemistry, at least 5 years of hands on experience in an analytical laboratory, knowledge of computer operation and software (spreadsheets, word processors, presentations, databases, web design, etc.), excellent written and oral communication skills in English, ability to multi-task, exhibit excellent customer service, leadership, and student lab supervision.
