Core Purpose
The role is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing all Container Terminal activities in the company’s Ports division in the most efficient and cost effective manner with equal emphasis on QHSE and Customer Satisfaction. The role is also responsible for taking inputs from Supervisor on Operational issues and giving inputs to the Manager Ports on new business opportunity and strategic initiatives for the Container Terminal.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor day to day operations to ensure smooth operations in the terminal in a timely manner
2.Develop and ensure implementation of administrative procedures and operating quality control checks to monitor terminal activities and associated costs according to plan
3. Effectively delegate work to the Supervisor and make sure that he communicates the terminal activities adequately to concerned people on a continuous basis
4. Ensure proper utilization of the on-line PC/mainframe systems existent in the division for real time monitoring and analysis of terminal performance and cost
5. Ensure the coordination with the various transportation departments as necessary to insure terminal activities (like availability of equipments, release and receive of containers, and other vessel needs)
6. Coordinate with all relevant business units of the company to maintain the proper flow of information for planning
7. Interact with the maintenance department to ensure appropriate communication links are maintained
8.Identify and implement changes necessary to improve profitability and reduce costs within appropriate corporate financial guidelines
9. Assist the Division Head with any inputs that he may need for short term and long term planning
10.Resolve customer problems and complaints such as, but not limited to, scheduling problems, service failures, special requests etc.
11. Coordinate with QHSE department to ensure the implementation of standards and guidelines
