Nutrition Specialist is responsible to undertake the practical application of nutrition with patients and to promote the well-being of individuals and communities to prevent nutrition related problems.

He or she is also involved in diagnosis and dietary treatment of diseases.

Principal Responsibilities

direct, and implement nutrition care, nutrition education, diet therapy and food service programs to serve patients’ need

• Consult with Head Dietitian in preparing nutrition plans, review food service facilities and advice equipment needs

• Consult with Head Dietitian to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient

• Deal with different types of natural products, vitamins and minerals

• To provide care to diet-disorder patients, discuss deficiency and cope up with effective solution

• To evaluate anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary measures to assess patients’ nutritional status

• To develop nutrition and lifestyle care plans and recommend therapeutic diets

• Provide ongoing assessment and assist in improving patients outcomes

• Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation

• Prepare diet menus for patients suffering from diabetes, cardiac or other diseases where therapeutic diets are prescribed

• To recommend laboratory test, where required, to patients which provide indications of nutritional in-balance, the functioning of the liver and the digestive system

• Responsible for periodic on-site regular visits, providing direct services to each patients

• Responsible for assigned floor to check over-all patients’ nutritional care

• To schedule, staff, monitor and evaluate work activities for all clinic and patient related function

• To ensure that the standards of care meet or exceed regulatory, patients and budget requirements

• To manage clinical nutrition department, computer processes and systems

• To supervise preparation and serving of meals

• To instruct patients and care givers clearly on what to eat and what not to

• Maintain record, prepare reports and composes correspondence related to the work

• Prepare comprehensive notes, create confidential reports and keep on track
