We are currently recruiting for a Class Teacher. You will be reporting directly to the Principal

Purpose of the Job

Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the class and the safety and welfare of the children.

Be accountable for the learning, progress and attainment of all children in the class.

Promote the aims and ethos of the school.



Teaching and Learning

Establish a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.

Plan and prepare lessons in order to deliver the National Curriculum or EYFS curriculum, ensuring breadth and balance in all subjects.

Be responsible for the preparation and development of schemes of work, teaching materials, resources, support programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate.

Be aware of children’s capabilities and prior knowledge and plan differentiated teaching activities that build on this and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how children learn.

Have a clear understanding of the needs of all children, including those with special educational needs, and use appropriate strategies to engage and support them.

Use a range of teaching approaches to inspire, motivate and challenge learners.

Set homework and plan out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend children’s knowledge and understanding.

Have high expectations of behaviour and use praise, rewards and sanctions consistently and fairly.

Be a positive role model, demonstrating the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of the children.

Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children.



Recording and Assessment

Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies to set challenging learning objectives and monitor the progress and attainment of all learners.

Make accurate and productive use of assessment information to secure pupil progress.

Give children regular feedback, both orally and through marking, and encourage them to reflect on their progress and take responsibility for their own learning.

Use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets and plan subsequent lessons.



Professional Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationships.

Manage the work of support staff as appropriate.

Communicate effectively with parents about their child’s progress, achievements and well-being.

Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school, including attendance at school meetings and events.

Regularly review the effectiveness of own teaching and act on feedback and advice from colleagues to improve practice.

Take responsibility for own professional development, through participation in training and development opportunities.
